A unique, yet fun way of connecting with seniors is through origami was brought to Atria Park by our California chapter!

Origami is a brain-boosting activity that engages memory, focus, and fine motor skills. Research published in the Journal of Nursing Care found that origami activities improved attention, memory, and orientation in older adults with cognitive impairment. It’s a fun and meaningful way to keep the mind active while fostering creativity.

Each student partnered one-on-one with a senior, creating a personalized and engaging experience. Together, they explored a wide variety of origami designs and selected projects that matched each resident’s interests, skill level, and creativity.

Origami introduced residents to a hobby that is both rewarding and endlessly creative. With countless designs to discover, seniors gained a new activity they can continue enjoying long after the event ended.
